No. 1: Art Nouveau Cupboard

During workshop no. 1, you will be guided by Arjen Spinhoven while building this elegant cupboard from MDF parts and finishing it step by step using acrylic paints and gels until it looks like it was crafted from real exotic wood. The model for this special piece is an original from 1900, made by the famous French Art Nouveau designer Eugene Gaillard.

No. 2: You're off your rocker!

Participants in workshop no. 2 will probably be told they're crazy by non-miniaturist friends when they show them the results of this class taught by Sun Lemmens. People who don't understand the fascination in scale 1:12 will definitely pass at scale 1:144. Workshop participants will decorate the inner space of a pocket watch in the most beautiful ways, for example using furniture or creating a miniature landscape.

No. 3: Red Jamie

... is the name of this red-haired Scotsman who will be built during workshop no. 3, guided by Helena Reijnen. Participants craft the doll from porcelain parts and clothe him in style. Red Jamie is wearing the "big kilt" like his TV-popular brother: Helena Reijnen designed the doll inspired by TV-Series character Jamie Fraser of "Outlander", continuing the theme from last year's workshop. Nobody else offers this doll-building kit.

... are part of the program of workshop no. 6 with Anita Waijer. You can choose freely whether you would rather build and decorate a bedroom and nursery (6a, upper picture), a living room (6b, lower picture) or two combined rooms (6c).

No. 7: Garden Shed

Under this crooked shed's tin roof, Iris Arentz has decoratively stored everything you can build from zinc-tape in Trezoortjes-shabby chic for your house and garden. During worhshop no. 7, you will learn how to craft these useful utensils. There is enough tape for about 50 seperate pieces. The shed's basic model will already be put together, but you will be able to cover it with stones and metal sheets. There will also be pre-cut paper kits for the plants.

No. 8: Decorative Dresser

Elisabeth Elsner von Gronow is teaching you how to skillfully design a dresser during workshop no. 8. Guided by her, participants will put together the wooden piece of furniture, prime it with special paint and grade it up with découpage (there are many new motives to choose from!). The dresser will then get a color finish. If there is still time, you can also craft the two decorations standing on top of it.

No. 10: Up and away

... is where you'll go during workshop no. 10. Mike Thomas of "Seaside Miniatures" will craft a scale 1:48 lighthouse with his participants, making sure that they are able to safely sail around all dangerous cliffs while constructing and painting the lasercut kit. The little rowing boat will also be made seaworthy.

No. 11: Professional Modelising

... is this workshops's theme, which is also 1zu12-newcomer Stefan Niehues-Ellermann's debut in the dollhouse scene. Step by step, students will be taught basic knowledge on working with the plastic modelising mass "BeeSPutty". Participants can choose their motive during the workshop, picking between a head (plus hands and feet, should there be enough time), a cat or a dog figurine, all 1/12th scale. At the end of the class, everybody should have crafted a presentable result. There is no previous knowledge required.

No 12: Vintage charm

During this workshop, students will be taught techniques for aging brand new miniatures in an authentic way. Class guide Janny Warnaar (artofmini.com) shows participants how to age a rocking chair, make a lantern rust and transform a cupboard into a shabby chic garden rack. The workshop's contents make it possible for students to age their own indoor and outdoor miniatures at home. On top of that, Janny Warnaar will also reveal how to make miniature dirt and snow look desceptively real and how to decoratively drape fabric.
She also offers to help with individual problems, if you send her an e-mail request (janny.warnaar@ewe.net) until May 10.
